About Hal Greer

Hal Greer played collegiately at Marshall University, where he became the first African-American to compete for a major college program in West Virginia. A second-round pick of the Syracuse Nationals in the 1958 NBA Draft, the 6-foot-2 guard spent his entire 15-year career (1958–73) with the Nationals and their successor franchise, the Philadelphia 76ers. Renowned for a textbook jump shot — which he uniquely used even on free throws — Greer earned 10 straight NBA All-Star selections, made seven All-NBA Second Teams, and was named MVP of the 1968 All-Star Game. He was a key contributor to the 76ers' 1967 NBA championship, one of the most celebrated title teams in league history, and retired with 21,586 points (19.2 per game). Greer entered the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1982. This 1961-62 Fleer issue is his rookie card, produced during his fourth pro season.

Condition-scarce. PSA has graded about 893 copies and SGC about 232, yet only 1 have reached PSA 10 and 47 are PSA 9.
