The story on this card

1966 Topps #84 is a first-series Rookie Stars card shared with pitcher Dick Kelley under the Atlanta Braves banner. Beauchamp did not appear in a major league game in 1966, spending the entire season with the Richmond Braves of the International League, where he put together his best minor league year yet, batting .319 with 25 home runs and 77 RBI before a broken wrist, suffered while tagging a runner at first base, ended his season early. Oklahoma-born first baseman and outfielder who bounced between five organizations across a ten-year career, then spent decades coaching for the Atlanta Braves after his playing days ended.

Optioned to Richmond to start 1966, Kelley reeled off six straight complete games and a 2.08 ERA before Atlanta recalled him. Moved into the rotation on July 31 after injuries opened spots, he sharpened his fastball, slider and screwball under catcher Joe Torre's guidance and finished 7-5 with a 3.22 ERA, the best year of his career by ERA+ and strikeout-to-walk ratio. This 1966 Topps Rookie Stars card pairs him with Jim Beauchamp under the Atlanta Braves banner. A wild-armed lefty out of Brighton, Massachusetts, Kelley battled control issues and a circulatory scare before carving out seven big-league seasons with the Braves and Padres.
