1966 Topps #231 Floyd Weaver

About Floyd Weaver
Card 231, from the set's third series, gives Weaver a solo card with the Cleveland Indians, the club he pitched for in 1965 after debuting with them in 1962. His rookie card is the 1965 Rookie Stars card; this one captures him mid-career as a swingman before his later stops with the White Sox and Brewers.
Floyd Weaver was a right-handed pitcher from Ben Franklin, Texas who stood 6 feet 4 inches. He starred at Pecan Gap High School and then Paris Junior College, where on May 10, 1961 he struck out 21 batters in a nine-inning game at Grand Junction, Colorado, a mark that still stands as a collegiate record. The Cleveland Indians signed him that year, and he made his major league debut on September 30, 1962. He returned to Cleveland's roster in 1965, then finished his career with the Chicago White Sox in 1970 and the Milwaukee Brewers in 1971, his last appearance coming on September 26, 1971. Across four big-league seasons and 85 games, Weaver went 4-5 with a 5.21 ERA over 155.1 innings, working almost exclusively out of the bullpen. He died in Powderly, Texas on November 17, 2008, at age 67.

Where SGC registers no separate row for a variation state, its slabs of that card are listed under the base state.
