The story on this card

Grilli reached the majors in 1966 with the Boston Red Sox after nearly eight years in their farm system. Card #558 is a high number from the set's seventh series, part of a multi-player Rookie Stars subset shared with Pete Magrini and George Scott, with Grilli pictured as a Red Sox rookie. It stands as his recognised rookie card. A Memphis-born left-hander who spent nearly eight years working through the Red Sox farm system before a brief 1966 stint in the majors with Boston and Kansas City.

Magrini's rookie season opened with his major league debut on April 13, 1966 against Baltimore, relieving Dave Morehead and working the final two innings. He pitched briefly again in relief before Boston gave him a start at Kansas City on May 9, his only big-league start and his only decision, a 6-1 loss. Boston optioned him to Toronto the next day. This card shares its Rookie Stars panel with fellow pitcher Guido Grilli and infielder George Scott, Magrini's Pittsfield teammate and the 1965 Eastern League Triple Crown winner. It falls in the set's seventh and final print series, among the high numbers, and stands as Magrini's rookie card. A Santa Clara product who once struck out Willie Mays in an exhibition game, Pete Magrini reached the majors with Boston in 1966 after an 18-8, 2.26 ERA season at Double-A Pittsfield.

Card #558 is a high-number Rookie Stars multi-player card from Topps' final 1966 series, pairing Scott with fellow Red Sox prospects Guido Grilli and Pete Magrini. It is recognized as Scott's rookie card. That season he took over first base a week into his debut, played all 162 games, hit .245 with 27 home runs and 90 RBIs, and earned an All-Star selection as a Red Sox rookie. Boston and Milwaukee first baseman with a rifle glove and a big personality, Scott won eight Gold Gloves, made three All-Star teams, and led the American League in homers and RBIs for the 1975 Brewers.
