Fred Talbot was a right-handed pitcher from Washington, D.C. who reached the majors with the Chicago White Sox in September 1963 and spent parts of eight seasons in the American League. His busiest stretch came with the Kansas City Athletics, where he worked as a full-time starter, before a 1966 trade sent him to the New York Yankees. He remained a Yankees starter and swingman through 1968, then moved on in 1969 to the Yankees, the expansion Seattle Pilots, and the Athletics again before finishing his career with Oakland in 1970. Over his career he posted a 38-56 record with a 4.12 ERA across 195 games. He attended Fairfax High School in Fairfax, Virginia. After baseball he worked in construction before retiring in 1996. He died in Falls Church, Virginia, in 2013 at age 71.
