The story on this card

Card #136 pairs Huntz with Mike Torrez in the Cardinals Rookie Stars subset, from Topps' second series of 1969. It is a recognized rookie card for Huntz alone. That season Huntz split his time between shortstop and second base for St. Louis, appearing in 71 games and batting .194 with 3 home runs and 13 RBI in his first extended big-league look. A utility infielder who played shortstop, second base and third base for the Cardinals, Padres and White Sox across five seasons from 1967 to 1975.

In 1969 Torrez became a full-time member of the Cardinals rotation, finishing 10-4 with a 3.59 ERA over 24 appearances after winning nine of his final ten decisions. Card #136, from the set's second print series, is a Rookie Stars card shared with Steve Huntz, both pictured as Cardinals. His rookie card is 1968 Topps #162. A well-traveled right-hander who pitched for seven major league clubs across 18 seasons, highlighted by a 20-win year with Baltimore in 1975 and two Yankees victories in the 1977 World Series.
