The story on this card

Card #31 in the 1969 set is Gentry's lone card in Topps' 1960s run, a series-1 'Mets 1969 Rookie Stars' issue shared with Amos Otis and his recognized rookie card. It reached packs as he claimed a rotation spot alongside Tom Seaver and Jerry Koosman: 35 starts, a 13-12 record, 3.43 ERA, 154 strikeouts and three shutouts across 233.2 innings. On September 24 he four-hit St. Louis 6-0 to clinch the NL East, then beat Jim Palmer 5-0 in World Series Game 3, doubling home two runs himself. Gary Gentry was the hard-throwing Arizona State product who made 35 starts for the 1969 Mets as a rookie, then shut out Baltimore for six-plus innings and doubled in two runs to win Game 3 of that World Series.

After brief looks with the Mets in 1967 and 1968, Otis made New York's roster for good in 1969, playing mostly outfield with a handful of games at third base as manager Gil Hodges experimented with him at the position. He appears on this card as part of the multi-player Rookie Stars subset, sharing space with fellow Mets prospect Gary Gentry. Within months of the season's end, the Mets traded Otis to Kansas City, where he would build the rest of his career. Kansas City Royals center fielder for most of the 1970s, a five-time All-Star and three-time Gold Glove winner known for his speed and range in the outfield.
