1970 Topps #397 Roger Repoz

About Roger Repoz
California's 1970 club was the best major-league team Roger Repoz played on apart from the 1964 Yankees. On May 19 he homered and doubled off Chicago's Joel Horlen, and later doubled off Wilbur Wood, in a 3-0 road win. He scored 50 runs and stole 4 bases that year. His 1970 Topps #397, in the fourth series, lists him with the Angels.
Roger Repoz was a left-handed-hitting outfielder from Bellingham, Washington, who starred at Western Washington University before signing with the Yankees. He reached the majors in September 1964 and spent parts of three seasons in New York before a June 1966 trade sent him to Kansas City, then on to California a year later. Standing 6-foot-3, Repoz was strong defensively and hit for power, with 18 home runs for the Angels in 1970. From 1967 to 1970 he set a major-league record for nonpitchers by going 347 games without hitting into a double play. His time with major league organizations ended in 1972, and he then spent five productive seasons in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball before moving to California for a 26-year career in carpet mill manufacturing.
