1976 Topps #313 Dan Ford

About Dan Ford
Ford's rookie card, #313, shows him with the Twins and carries the All-Star Rookie trophy cup for his 1975 season, when he hit .280 with 15 home runs in 130 games. In 1976 he moved to right field, hit 20 home runs and stole 17 bases, and finished among the American League's top 10 in extra-base hits and runs scored. On April 15 he hit the first home run at the renovated Yankee Stadium, off Rudy May.
Dan Ford was an outfielder who played 1975 to 1985 for the Minnesota Twins, California Angels and Baltimore Orioles. The Oakland A's took him 18th overall in the 1970 draft out of Fremont High School in Los Angeles, and he came to Minnesota in an October 1974 trade for Pat Bourque. He was the Twins' regular for four seasons. Traded to the Angels after the 1978 season, he played right field for the team that won its first division title in 1979. The Orioles got him in January 1982 in the deal that sent Doug DeCinces to California, and he was their starting right fielder in the 1983 championship season, homering off Steve Carlton in World Series Game 3. Knee problems, including four surgeries between November 1979 and mid-1985, limited his time in Baltimore, and the club released him in January 1986. He finished with a .270 average, 121 home runs and 566 RBI in 1,153 games.
