About Tom Burgmeier

After the club released him in 1964, San Jose manager Rocky Bridges recommended him to the Angels. Burgmeier reached the majors with California in 1968 and later pitched for Kansas City, Minnesota, Boston and Oakland. He made the 1980 American League All-Star team and finished that season with 24 saves and a 2.00 ERA for the Red Sox. His career ended in 1984 with a 79-55 record, a 3.23 ERA and 102 saves. Burgmeier later worked as a Royals video coordinator, coached pitchers in their farm system and served as the major league club's bullpen coach. He also coached at Bowie, Burlington and Omaha.
