Mike Tyson was a second baseman and shortstop who spent ten seasons in the National League, eight with the St. Louis Cardinals and two with the Chicago Cubs. The Cardinals took him in the third round of the 1970 draft, and he debuted on September 5, 1972. He was a regular in their lineup until the end of 1979, and he finished in the league's top ten in defensive wins above replacement in 1974 and again in 1977. His best offensive year was the injury-shortened 1976, when he posted career highs with a .286 average and a .445 slugging percentage. St. Louis traded him to the Cubs for relief pitcher Donnie Moore after 1979. Chicago released him on March 15, 1982, and he retired with a .241 average, 27 home runs and 269 RBI in 1,017 games. He was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
