The story on this card

Davey Lopes of the Dodgers took the 1975 National League stolen base title with 77, scoring 108 runs in 155 games. Joe Morgan of the Reds stole 67 bases while hitting .327 on the way to the first of his two MVP awards. Lou Brock of the Cardinals stole 56 and shares the card. Card #197 sits in the 1976 Topps League Leaders subset, printed in the order Lopes, Morgan, Brock.

Davey Lopes was the Dodgers' leadoff-hitting second baseman through 1981, a four-time All-Star who led the National League in steals in 1975 and 1976 and won the 1978 Gold Glove. He later coached for six clubs and managed the Brewers from 2000 to 2002. Joe Morgan combined 268 home runs with 689 stolen bases over 22 major-league seasons. Cincinnati's second baseman won consecutive National League MVP awards, five Gold Gloves and election to the Hall of Fame in 1990. Cardinals outfielder Lou Brock had helped Southern University win an NAIA championship. In the final against Omaha University, he hit a tiebreaking home run and drove in three runs in a 10-2 victory.
