About Rowland Office

Office's 1975 season of 126 games and a .290 average included a leaping catch at the Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium wall that became one of the park's best-known defensive plays. The 1976 season brought a 29-game hitting streak, and a knee injury in July limited him afterward. He hit .281 with 4 home runs in 99 games. Card #256 puts him in a Braves uniform.

Rowland Office was a left-handed-hitting outfielder who played 899 games in the majors between 1972 and 1983, mostly for the Atlanta Braves, with stops in Montreal and New York. A Sacramento native who played at C. K. McClatchy High School and Sacramento City College, he debuted with the Braves in 1972 as the youngest player in the majors that year, spent 1973 in the minors, and became a regular in 1974, sharing left field with Hank Aaron. He stayed with Atlanta through 1979, signed with the Expos as a free agent, and was released in early 1982. He joined the Phillies' minor league system, then got two games with the 1983 Yankees while hitting .297 with eight home runs in 87 games for Columbus. His career line was .259 with 32 home runs, 242 RBI and 27 stolen bases.
