About Dan Larson

In 1976, Larson debuted for Houston on July 18; all 13 of his pitching appearances were starts, and he completed five. He went 5-8 with a 3.02 ERA across 92 1/3 innings. His 1977 Topps rookie card, #641, identified him with the Astros.

Dan Larson pitched for Houston, Philadelphia and the Cubs over seven major-league seasons. St. Louis drafted him in the first round in 1972 while he attended Alhambra High School in California, then sent him to Houston in the Claude Osteen trade. The Astros later exchanged him for Philadelphia pitcher Dan Warthen in September 1978. Larson went 3-0 for the Phillies in 1981 before another deal sent him, Keith Moreland and Dickie Noles to Chicago for Mike Krukow. He made his final major-league appearance in 1982 and continued pitching in the minors through 1984.
