The story on this card

Owner Ted Turner managed the Braves himself for one game in May 1977, their 17th straight loss, before the league barred him. The club then hired Bobby Cox, a 36-year-old former Yankees third baseman, for 1978. His first team went 69-93 and finished sixth in the National League West. Bob Horner hit 23 home runs and won National League Rookie of the Year, and Dale Murphy appeared in 151 games, 129 of them at first base. Phil Niekro went 19-18 with a 2.88 ERA and led the league in losses. Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium drew 904,494. Card #302 is the Braves team card, with Cox.

Bobby Cox played third base for the New York Yankees in 1968 and 1969, then managed the Atlanta Braves to 14 consecutive division titles and the 1995 World Series title. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame as a manager in 2014.
