1979 Topps #303 Lary Sorensen

About Lary Sorensen
An 18-12 season with a 3.21 ERA preceded Sorensen's Brewers card, 1979 Topps #303. He completed 17 games in 1978 and made the American League All-Star team. In the All-Star Game, he pitched 3 innings, retiring 9 consecutive batters after Larry Bowa's single.
Lary Sorensen was a right-handed pitcher for seven major league clubs, beginning with Milwaukee and later playing for St. Louis, Cleveland, Oakland, the Cubs, Montreal and San Francisco. He attended the University of Michigan and pitched for the Falmouth Commodores in the Cape Cod League in 1975. Milwaukee drafted him in the eighth round in 1976. His parents spelled his first name with one R to give him a four-letter name like his siblings. Over 11 major league seasons, Sorensen won 93 games, threw 69 complete games and pitched 1,736 1/3 innings. His final major league appearances came with the Giants in 1988.
