1988-89 Fleer #61 Benoit Benjamin

About Benoit Benjamin
Pronounced 'ben-OYT,' Benoit Benjamin came out of Monroe, Louisiana and Creighton University as the third overall pick in the 1985 NBA Draft, a 7-foot center the Clippers hoped would anchor the middle for a decade. Not a rookie card, this Fleer issue lands squarely on his best pro season — 1988-89, when 'Big Ben,' the press's inevitable handle for a 7-footer named Benjamin, posted career highs of 16.4 points on .541 shooting with 8.8 rebounds and 2.8 blocks a night. The No. 00 on his back drew famous scorn: Dick Vitale cracked after a January 1988 game that he ought to add a third zero for his attitude. Yet the shot-blocking was real — he still owns the Clippers' franchise mark of 2.75 blocks per game. Benjamin lasted 15 NBA seasons and 807 games across nine teams, from Seattle and New Jersey to the expansion Vancouver Grizzlies, retiring with 9,223 points, 6,063 rebounds and 1,581 blocks.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-08-18. Half grades fold down for both graders (8.5→8); PSA qualified slabs (OC, ST, PD, MC and the like) are not counted. The graders do not break out the stickers, so sticker pages carry no table.
