About Bobby Hansen
An Iowa kid through and through, Bobby Hansen starred at West Des Moines Dowling High before helping Lute Olson's Hawkeyes reach the 1980 Final Four, then went 54th overall to the Utah Jazz in the 1983 NBA Draft. The 6'6" shooting guard played nine NBA seasons (1983-92), seven of them in Utah alongside John Stockton and Karl Malone — starting all 82 games in 1985-86, peaking at 9.7 points per game in 1986-87, and drawing Defensive Player of the Year votes in 1987-88. After stops in Sacramento and Chicago, his storybook finish came in the 1992 Finals: sent in for Michael Jordan in Game 6 against Portland, he opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer and a steal that sparked the Bulls' title-clinching comeback, Jordan telling him afterward, "I told you I'd get you that ring." He retired with 3,952 career points and moved into the Hawkeyes' radio booth. Fleer #113 is Hansen's rookie card.
