About Rodney McCray

A pillar of Louisville's 1980 NCAA championship team alongside his brother Scooter and Darrell Griffith, Rodney McCray also made the 1980 U.S. Olympic squad — a trip erased by the Moscow boycott, for which he received a Congressional Gold Medal in 2007. Houston took the Mount Vernon, New York product third overall in 1983, and over five Rockets seasons he became the club's do-everything forward: an early 'point forward' running the offense, All-Defensive Second Team in 1987 and First Team in 1988, and a starter throughout the 1986 Finals run against Larry Bird's Celtics. This card, not a rookie, catches him at a crossroads — Fleer printed him as a Rocket, but the Otis Thorpe trade sent him to Sacramento for 1988-89. Stops in Dallas and Chicago followed, and he retired in 1993 with 9,014 points, 5,087 rebounds, and a Bulls championship ring.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-08-18. Half grades fold down for both graders (8.5→8); PSA qualified slabs (OC, ST, PD, MC and the like) are not counted. The graders do not break out the stickers, so sticker pages carry no table.
