About Eddie Plank
Born 1875 in Gettysburg, PA (d. 1926), Eddie Plank was a left-handed pitcher who debuted in 1901 and played 17 major-league seasons. He went 326-194 with a 2.35 ERA and 2,246 strikeouts across 623 appearances. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1946. Known as 'Gettysburg Eddie,' he became the first left-handed pitcher in major-league history to win 300 games and remained the winningest southpaw until Warren Spahn passed him in 1962.
