About Frank Baker
Born 1886 in Trappe, MD (d. 1963), Frank Baker was a left-handed third baseman who debuted in 1908 and played 13 major-league seasons. He batted .307 with 1,838 hits, 96 home runs, and 235 stolen bases in 1,575 games. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1955. His nickname 'Home Run' Baker was cemented in the 1911 World Series, when he homered on consecutive days off Giants aces Rube Marquard and Christy Mathewson to power the Athletics to the title.
