About Bob Reynolds

Bobby Reynolds gave Nebraska one of the most electrifying seasons in college football history. A sophomore halfback from Grand Island in 1950, he led the nation in scoring with 157 points on 22 touchdowns, rushed for 1,342 yards to rank second nationally, and carried the Cornhuskers to their first winning season since 1940, earning first-team All-America honors and the "Mr. Touchdown" title that followed him ever after. Against Missouri that fall he turned a broken play into legend, reversing his field three times on a scoring run officially listed at 33 yards, though he covered well over 100, to seal a 40-34 victory. A shoulder separation, a broken leg, and an eye infection slowed his final two seasons, yet he still left Lincoln holding school career records for rushing yards and scoring. The College Football Hall of Fame inducted him in 1984; he died in Lincoln the following year.
