About Yogi Berra
Lawrence Peter "Yogi" Berra, born in St. Louis in 1925, signed with the New York Yankees in 1943 and, after wartime Navy service, debuted in the majors on September 22, 1946. A left-handed-hitting catcher, he spent essentially his entire 19-season career (1946-1963) in pinstripes before a brief coda with the Mets in 1965. Berra was one of the great winners in baseball history, playing on 10 World Series champions and earning three American League MVP awards (1951, 1954, 1955). An 18-time All-Star, he batted .285 with 2,150 hits, 358 home runs and 1,430 RBI, and he famously caught Don Larsen's perfect game in the 1956 World Series, leaping into Larsen's arms at the final out. His nickname, "Yogi," was hung on him in his youth by a boyhood friend who thought his cross-legged posture resembled a yogi from India. Renowned for his malapropisms ("Yogi-isms") and later a manager of both the Yankees and Mets, Berra was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972. As a second-series card, #110 exists with both the scarcer white back stock and the more common gray back.

Every card #1-180 exists with the reverse printed on white/cream card stock OR on gray card stock. Cards #181-340 are gray-back only.
