1962 Topps #532 Dick Stigman

About Dick Stigman
Two 1962 cards bracket the biggest move of his career. Card 37, a first-series combination card titled Tribe Hill Trio, still has him in a Cleveland uniform beside fellow Indians pitchers Barry Latman and Jim Perry. Card 532, a seventh-series high number, already shows the Minnesota Twins: he and first baseman Vic Power had been sent to his home state that April for right-hander Pedro Ramos. Stigman made the deal look good, opening the season in relief and drawing his first start July 18, a complete game against Cleveland in which Harmon Killebrew and Bob Allison both hit first-inning grand slams. He finished 12-5 with a 3.66 ERA, six complete games in 15 starts and three saves as Minnesota stunned the league with second place.
Richard Lewis Stigman, born January 24, 1936, in Nimrod, Minnesota, was a left-handed pitcher who spent seven major-league seasons with the Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox between 1960 and 1966. Three days after he graduated from Sebeka High School in the spring of 1954, the Cleveland scout who had signed Bob Feller and Bob Lemon drove out to sign him, having watched the strapping teenager strike out 21 batters in a seven-inning perfect game. Stigman climbed the Indians' farm system behind a 17-9, 1.44 ERA season at Class D Vidalia in 1956, reached Cleveland in 1960 and was traded to his home-state Twins two years later. Minnesota got his best work, both as a starter and out of the bullpen, and he was on the roster when the Twins won the 1965 American League pennant. Over 235 big-league games he went 46-54 with a 4.03 ERA and 755 strikeouts. He became a Minneapolis-area businessman afterward, and a park in Nimrod called Stigman's Mound carries his name.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-09-24. Half-grades fold down (8.5→8), and PSA's qualified grades are counted separately from the straight-grade rows shown here. Slabs of the three cards printed #139 are joined by description, never by number alone. PSA registers the green tints as a separate set; a tint's population is listed under that state of the card it belongs to.

Frequently asked questions
What is the 1962 Topps #532 card?
It is card #532 of the 600-card 1962 Topps Baseball set, picturing Dick Stigman of the Minnesota Twins.
Why is #532 harder to find?
It is a high number card (cards 523-598) from the seventh print series, distributed last and in the smallest quantity - the toughest cards in the set and home to all 42 short prints and the Rookie Parade.
How many cards are in the 1962 Topps Baseball set?
600 cards, tracked as 708 collectible states. The numbers run from 1 to 598 with no gaps, but three different cards were printed #139 - two Hal Reniff poses, catalogued 139a and 139b, and the Babe Hits 60 Babe Ruth Special, 139c - so 598 numbers make 600 cards; 93 cards carry catalogued print variations, the series-2 green tints among them, that the master set counts separately.
