About Ken Hunt
#364 belongs to the fourth print series of 1962 Topps. It still lists him with Cincinnati, though he would never throw another major-league pitch. Sports Illustrated's season preview had him as insurance behind the Joey Jay, Bob Purkey and Jim O'Toole rotation; instead seven spring innings cost him 17 runs on 12 hits and 11 walks, and Cincinnati sent him down. He split the year between Triple-A San Diego and Class A Macon, going 2-8 with a 7.67 ERA and 80 walks in 61 innings. Watch the name: this one reads Ken Hunt, while the Angels outfielder at #68 is the one printed Ken L. Hunt.
Kenneth Raymond Hunt Jr., a right-handed pitcher from Ogden, Utah, signed with Cincinnati in 1958 for a reported $35,000 bonus after an all-state prep career at Ogden High School and a single year at Brigham Young University. Wildness nearly buried him: he walked 75 in 54 innings at Class C Visalia in 1958 and 185 in 150 innings there in 1959, before a breakout 1960 at Class A Columbia, where he went 16-6 and led the South Atlantic League with 221 strikeouts. He won a spot in the Reds' rotation out of spring training in 1961 and was, for a stretch that summer, named alongside Sandy Koufax as one of the two best young pitchers in the National League; he finished 9-10 with a 3.96 ERA, took The Sporting News NL Rookie Pitcher of the Year award, and worked one inning of the World Series. Control trouble and a sore shoulder undid him, and he never pitched in the majors again, leaving pro baseball after 1965. He taught English and coached baseball and basketball at Morgan High School in Utah until 2003, entered the Utah Sports Hall of Fame in 2004, and died in 2008.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-09-24. Half-grades fold down (8.5→8), and PSA's qualified grades are counted separately from the straight-grade rows shown here. Slabs of the three cards printed #139 are joined by description, never by number alone. PSA registers the green tints as a separate set; a tint's population is listed under that state of the card it belongs to.
