The story on this card
Game 1 of the 1961 World Series was played October 4 at Yankee Stadium, where the Yankees beat the Cincinnati Reds 2-0. Whitey Ford threw a complete-game shutout, scattering two singles, walking one and striking out six. Both New York runs were solo home runs: Elston Howard connected in the fourth and Bill Skowron added one in the sixth, and that was all Ford needed. Reds starter Jim O'Toole pitched well in defeat, allowing six hits over seven innings. Ford came back to win Game 4 and was named Series MVP as New York closed the Reds out in five. The card is #232 in the 1962 Topps set, a World Series subset entry printed in the third series.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-09-24. Half-grades fold down (8.5→8), and PSA's qualified grades are counted separately from the straight-grade rows shown here. Slabs of the three cards printed #139 are joined by description, never by number alone. PSA registers the green tints as a separate set; a tint's population is listed under that state of the card it belongs to.
