Constable's only card from the 1961-69 Topps run, 1963 Topps #411, part of the fifth of Topps' 1963 series releases, pictures him with the Milwaukee Braves, the club he pitched for in 1962 before finishing his career with the San Francisco Giants early in 1963.
Jimmy Lee Constable, born June 14, 1933 in Jonesborough, Tennessee, was a left-handed relief pitcher who spent parts of five seasons in the major leagues between 1956 and 1963. He debuted with the New York Giants on June 24, 1956 and went on to appear for the San Francisco Giants, Cleveland Indians, Washington Senators, and Milwaukee Braves before finishing his career with the Giants in 1963. A switch-hitter who threw left-handed, Constable stood 6-foot-1 and weighed 185 pounds. Working almost entirely out of the bullpen, he appeared in 56 games, compiling a 3-4 record, a 4.87 ERA, two saves and 59 strikeouts. He died September 4, 2002 in Johnson City, Tennessee, at age 69.
