One of twenty manager cards in the 1966 Topps set: the Astros have two (#147 Lum Harris and #504 Grady Hatton) and the Cubs have none.

About Eddie Stanky

Card 448 in the sixth series catches Stanky in his return to a big-league uniform after several years as a Cardinals and Mets front-office executive. He took over the Chicago White Sox that season, succeeding Al Lopez, and though the club had been an American League runner-up three years running, his first team slipped to fourth place at 83-79.

Eddie Stanky was a scrappy, undersized second baseman who made himself into a winner through will more than raw tools. Born in Philadelphia in 1915, he reached the majors in 1943 with the Cubs and went on to play for the Dodgers, Braves, Giants and Cardinals through 1953, drawing walks at an elite rate (over 100 in six different seasons) and leading the National League in on-base percentage twice. He reached the World Series three times with three different pennant winners. As a Dodger in 1947 he was among Jackie Robinson's earliest teammate supporters. He later managed the Cardinals, White Sox and briefly the Rangers, was named Manager of the Year with St. Louis in 1952, and closed out his baseball life as a highly successful college coach at South Alabama.

Where SGC registers no separate row for a variation state, its slabs of that card are listed under the base state.
