1966 Topps #22 Joe Nossek

About Joe Nossek
Minnesota placed Nossek on waivers in May 1966 and the Kansas City Athletics claimed him; he went on to hit .261 in 91 games between the two clubs, his busiest big-league season at the plate, primarily as an outfielder. This first-series card catches him mid-transition, pictured with the Twins as he was becoming a regular contributor for his new club.
Joe Nossek was an outfielder who broke in with the Minnesota Twins in 1964 after starring at Ohio University and working his way up through Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth and Atlanta in the Twins system. A light hitter but a sharp defender, he served as a backup outfielder on Minnesota's 1965 pennant winner, starting in center field for most of that year's World Series against the Dodgers. Waived to Kansas City in 1966, he logged his heaviest playing time with the Athletics through 1967, then closed out his six-year career in brief stints with Oakland and St. Louis. Teammates called him 'Coffee and Juice' for his light eating habits. Nossek finished with a .228 career average, three home runs and 53 RBI over 295 games, and went on to a long second career as a big-league coach, prized for his skill at stealing opposing signs.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Data as of 2026-09-04. Half grades fold down for both graders (8.5→8); PSA qualified slabs (OC, ST, PD, MC and the like) are not counted. Where SGC registers no separate row for a variation state, its slabs of that card are listed under the base state.
