The story on this card
Kosco spent 1966 back with the Twins, but with Tony Oliva, Jimmie Hall and Bob Allison holding down the outfield, playing time was scarce; he appeared in 57 games and hit .222 with 2 home runs and 13 RBI. His 1966 Topps #264 card is a Rookie Stars issue shared with fellow Twins outfielder Ted Uhlaender, from the set's third print series. Youngstown, Ohio slugger who signed with Detroit for a then-enormous bonus, later found his power stroke with the Twins and played a decade for seven big-league clubs.
Uhlaender opened 1966 in the minors at Denver but was recalled and installed as Minnesota's starting center fielder on June 25, batting .226 with 22 RBI in 105 games. This card is #264, a multi-player Rookie Stars issue from series 3 shared with fellow Twins outfielder Andy Kosco, and marks Uhlaender's recognized rookie card. A converted catcher out of Baylor, Uhlaender became Minnesota's regular center fielder in 1966 and settled in as a steady, sure-handed defender for the Twins, Indians and Reds through 1972.
