1966 Topps #428 Sandy Alomar

About Sandy Alomar
Alomar's 1966 Topps card, #428, pictures him with the Atlanta Braves in the set's fifth print series. The team had just relocated from Milwaukee, and Alomar split his time between second base and shortstop, appearing in 31 games and batting a career-low .091, by far his poorest showing at the plate to that point.
Santos "Sandy" Alomar signed with the Milwaukee Braves organization in 1960 and reached the major leagues in September 1964. A switch-hitter who threw right-handed, he was valued for his speed and glove work across the infield, playing shortstop, second base and third base through stops with the Braves, Mets and White Sox before settling in as the California Angels' everyday second baseman in 1969. Over a 15-year career he appeared in 1,481 games, batting .245 with 13 home runs, 282 RBIs and 227 stolen bases, and he earned a berth on the 1970 American League All-Star team. After his playing days he coached and managed in winter ball, the minor leagues and the majors. His sons Sandy Alomar Jr. and Roberto Alomar both went on to become major league All-Stars.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Data as of 2026-09-04. Half grades fold down for both graders (8.5→8); PSA qualified slabs (OC, ST, PD, MC and the like) are not counted. Where SGC registers no separate row for a variation state, its slabs of that card are listed under the base state.
