About Bruce Brubaker

This card catches Brubaker on the Los Angeles Dodgers, the club with whom he made his lone 1967 major league appearance, a relief outing on April 15 against the St. Louis Cardinals in which he allowed a three-run homer to Lou Brock. Card 276 comes from the third print series. He struck out two batters in his brief big league work that year.

Bruce Brubaker was a right-handed pitcher from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, who stood 6 feet 1 inch and weighed 198 pounds. He signed as a minor league pitcher and spent 14 professional seasons, 1959 through 1972, winning 117 games in the minors along the way. His major league time came down to two relief appearances five years apart: one for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1967 and one for the Milwaukee Brewers in 1970, both in lopsided losses. In his Dodgers debut he surrendered a three-run home run to future Hall of Famer Lou Brock, and in his Brewers outing he gave up a two-run shot to Syd O'Brien; across 3 1/3 big league innings he allowed five runs, five hits and a walk with two strikeouts. After his playing days, Brubaker settled in Owensboro, Kentucky, where he built a career in the car business, eventually owning a Ford/Lincoln/Mazda dealership. He was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2010, the same honor his father had received. He is the uncle by marriage of longtime Yankees catcher Jorge Posada.
