The story on this card

Campanis got his first extended big-league action with the Dodgers in 1967, catching in 23 of his 41 games behind the plate. He is pictured on a multi-player Rookie Stars card alongside fellow Dodgers hopeful Bill Singer, part of the set's first print series. The card is a recognized rookie card for Campanis. A right-handed catcher who broke in with the Dodgers in 1966, Campanis was the son of longtime Dodgers figure Al Campanis and later returned to the organization off the field.

Singer made the Dodgers' Opening Day roster for the first time, then waited: two relief outings in the season's first month before his first start, on May 14 against the Cubs. He beat the Mets on May 29 for his first big-league win, and on June 24 he out-pitched Juan Marichal for a 2-0 shutout with 10 strikeouts, finishing 12-8 with a 2.64 ERA in 32 games. Topps placed him at number 12 in the opening print series, a Rookie Stars card he shares with Jimmy Campanis. Dodgers and Angels right-hander who won 20 games in both leagues, threw a 1970 no-hitter against the Phillies, and made two All-Star teams over a 14-year career shot through with injuries.
