The story on this card

1967 Topps #499, from the set's sixth print series, again lists George Culver among the Cleveland Indians Rookie Stars, sharing the card with outfielder Jose Vidal; it is Vidal's rookie card, while Culver's came on 1965 Topps #166. It followed Culver's 1966 major league debut, when he started against the Red Sox at Cleveland Municipal Stadium, and his first full rookie season logging relief and spot-start work for the Indians. George Culver, a Bakersfield College product who signed with the Yankees before pitching nine big league seasons, threw a no-hitter for the Reds in 1968 and later spent three decades coaching in the minors.

1967 Topps #499 is a Rookie Stars card pairing Vidal with fellow Cleveland Indians farmhand George Culver, part of the set's sixth print series. Vidal had reached the majors the previous September, debuting as a pinch hitter against Boston, and opened the 1967 season back with the big club before hitting just .118 in 16 games. A hard-hitting Dominican minor leaguer whose bat never translated to the majors; a 1963 California League Triple Crown and MVP season preceded a brief four-year big league run.
