1969 Topps #61 Jimmie Hall

About Jimmie Hall
1969 Topps #61 shows Hall with the Cleveland Indians, the team he opened the season with before also playing for the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs that same year. Splitting time across three clubs, he batted .224 with three home runs and 27 RBI in his next-to-last major league season.
Jimmie Randolph Hall was a left-handed hitting outfielder from Mount Holly, North Carolina, who spent seven years in the minor leagues before breaking through with the Minnesota Twins in 1963. That rookie season he set the American League record for home runs by a player with no prior big league experience, launching him into a two-time All-Star run built on raw power and a compact, self-taught swing. Hall played all three outfield spots for Minnesota, then moved on to the California Angels, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and Atlanta Braves as his power faded in the second half of the 1960s. He appeared in the 1965 World Series for the pennant-winning Twins. He is not a Hall of Famer.
