1969 Topps #380 Stan Bahnsen
Card carries Topps's All-Star Rookie trophy design, marking his 1968 AL Rookie of the Year season.

About Stan Bahnsen
This card reflects Bahnsen's breakout 1968 season, when he made the Yankees rotation out of spring training and went 17-12 with a team-best 2.05 ERA and a career-high 162 strikeouts, earning American League Rookie of the Year honors. Topps marked the card with its All-Star Rookie trophy design to flag that award. It is card number 380 from the set's fourth print series, and by this point it is not Bahnsen's rookie card.
Stan Bahnsen was a right-handed pitcher who spent 16 major league seasons with the Yankees, White Sox, Athletics, Expos, Angels and Phillies from 1966 to 1982. A fourth-round pick by the Yankees out of Nebraska, he broke in with New York and won the 1968 American League Rookie of the Year award after going 17-12 with a 2.05 ERA. Traded to the White Sox after the 1971 season, he became a workhorse in Chuck Tanner's three-man rotation, twice topping 40 starts and winning 21 games in 1972. Later he moved to Oakland and then Montreal, where he settled into a bullpen role and finished his career with the Angels and Phillies in 1982. He retired with a 146-149 record, 1,359 strikeouts and 20 saves over 574 games. Nicknamed the "Bahnsen Burner" at Nebraska for his fastball, he was later called "Stanley Struggle" for his knack of pitching out of trouble. In 2009 he was inducted into the Iowa Sports Hall of Fame.
