About Chris Arnold

Arnold's two-out grand slam as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the ninth on May 1, 1973 turned a 7-4 deficit into an 8-7 win over the Pirates at Candlestick Park. He batted .296 with 13 RBIs that year and played nine games at catcher. Card #584, from the high-number fifth series, is printed with the Giants.

Chris Arnold was a right-handed utility infielder for the San Francisco Giants from 1971 to 1976, playing mostly second and third base with a few games at catcher, shortstop, outfield and first. The Giants drafted him in the 11th round in 1965 out of Arcadia High School in California, and he was used most often as a pinch hitter. In 273 big-league games he hit .237 with four home runs and 51 RBIs. After leaving the majors he played three seasons for the Kintetsu Buffaloes in Japan, batting .274 with 43 home runs and 174 RBIs. He has since run a sports agency, Professional Sports International, from his home in Denver.
