1973 Topps #128 Ted Sizemore

About Ted Sizemore
Sizemore drove in 38 runs and stole 8 bases for St. Louis in 1972. During the offseason he worked for Pepsi-Cola and spoke to youth groups and high school students. His Cardinals #128 came in the first series of 1973 Topps. That April a hamstring injury put him on the disabled list for 3 weeks.
Ted Sizemore was a second baseman who spent twelve big-league seasons with the Dodgers, Cardinals, Phillies, Cubs and Red Sox from 1969 to 1980. Drafted by Los Angeles in 1966 out of the University of Michigan, he broke in splitting time at shortstop and second base and won the National League Rookie of the Year award in 1969. Traded to St. Louis after the 1970 season, he settled in as an everyday second baseman and batted .282 with 54 RBIs in 1973. He later returned to the Dodgers, then joined the Phillies for two playoff runs against his old club in the 1977 and 1978 National League Championship Series. He closed his career with the Cubs and the Red Sox. A contact hitter, Sizemore finished with a .262 career batting average over 1,411 games. After retiring he spent more than two decades with Rawlings Sporting Goods.
