About Terry Humphrey

Humphrey's playing time with Montreal shrank in 1973 to 43 games and 90 at-bats, 35 of the games behind the plate. He batted .167 with 1 home run and 9 RBI. His Expos card is #106, from the first series of the 1973 Topps set.

Terry Humphrey was a 6-foot-3, 185-pound right-handed catcher who appeared in 415 games over nine seasons, with the Montreal Expos from 1971 to 1974, the Detroit Tigers in 1975 and the California Angels from 1976 to 1979. Born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, he graduated from Carson High School in Southern California and attended Los Angeles City College and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The Expos took him in the 39th round of the 1969 draft, and when he was recalled in September 1971 he became the second product of their farm system, after Balor Moore, to reach the majors. He was a reserve catcher in most seasons and finished with a .211 average, 6 home runs and 85 RBI. He was traded to Detroit with Tom Walker for Woodie Fryman in December 1974.
