About Andy Kosco

Andy Kosco hit .280 with nine home runs in 118 at-bats for the 1973 Cincinnati Reds, who won the National League West. In the NLCS against the Mets he went 3-for-10, including both Reds hits in Jon Matlack's Game Two shutout, and the Mets took the series three games to two. His 1974 Topps card is #34, issued with the Reds; 1974 was his last season in the majors.

Andy Kosco was an outfielder and first baseman out of Youngstown, Ohio, signed by Detroit in 1959 for a $62,500 bonus after a huge senior season at Struthers High School. Released by the Tigers in 1964, he caught on with the Minnesota Twins, tore up Triple-A Denver, and debuted in the majors in August 1965 during Minnesota's pennant run. Over a ten-year career he played for the Twins, Yankees, Dodgers, Brewers, Angels, Red Sox and Reds. After retiring he finished a bachelor's degree at Youngstown State and went into the insurance business, later running the agency with his sons.
