Jerry Terrell was a utility infielder who spent eight seasons in the American League, five with the Minnesota Twins and three with the Kansas City Royals, covering shortstop, second base and third base. The Twins took him in the 18th round of the 1968 draft after he attended Minnesota State University, Mankato, and he lost the 1969 season to military service during the Vietnam War. He reached the majors in 1973 and finished with 657 games, 412 hits and a .253 average. In 1980, his last season, he played 23 games for the American League champion Royals and was the only one of 970 major leaguers to vote against a players' strike. He afterward scouted for the Royals and Twins as well as the Montreal Expos.
