About Larry Lintz

Lintz's rookie card, #121, shows him with the Expos after a debut on July 14, 1973 that came when shortstop Tim Foli broke his jaw. He later slid to second when Ron Hunt was hurt, and had 15 hits in his first 39 at-bats. On September 26 he bunted for a double against Tom Seaver. He played 52 games that first year.

Larry Lintz was a 5-foot-9, 150-pound switch-hitting second baseman and base stealer who played 350 major league games from 1973 to 1978 for the Montreal Expos, St. Louis Cardinals, Oakland Athletics and Cleveland Indians. A sixth-round pick out of San Jose State in 1971, he stole 96 bases for Quebec in 1972, an Eastern League record. With Montreal in 1974 he hit .238 and stole 50 bases, fifth in the National League and then a club record. Traded to the Cardinals in July 1975 for Jim Dwyer and to Oakland that October for Charlie Chant, he became one of Charlie Finley's designated runners, pinch-running in 140 of his 350 games. He finished with 128 steals and a .227 average, and last played in the majors on May 30, 1978, with Cleveland.
