1974 Topps #329 Mark Belanger

About Mark Belanger
Belanger and second baseman Bobby Grich both won Gold Gloves for Baltimore in 1973, when Belanger also scored 60 runs and stole 13 bases. In 1974 he hit five home runs and drove in 36 runs. His 1974 Topps card is #329.
Mark Belanger spent 17 seasons with Baltimore and one with the Los Angeles Dodgers, winning eight Gold Gloves at shortstop and a World Series championship with the 1970 Orioles. His tall, narrow frame earned him the nickname The Blade. Baltimore signed him out of Pittsfield High School in 1962 for $35,000, and he reached the majors as a pinch-runner on August 7, 1965. Across 18 seasons he collected 1,316 hits and batted .228. He served as the Orioles' player representative, took part in the 1981 strike negotiations and worked for the players' association after retiring. Baltimore inducted him into its team Hall of Fame in 1983.
