About Von Joshua

Joshua appeared in 81 games for the 1974 Dodgers and played 35 of them in the outfield. He hit .234 with one home run and 16 RBI. Los Angeles took the pennant, and in the World Series loss to Oakland he went 0-for-4, all as a pinch-hitter, and grounded out to Rollie Fingers for the final out. His #551 card pictures him with the Dodgers.

Von Joshua was a left-handed-hitting outfielder from Oakland, California, who played ten major league seasons between 1969 and 1980 for the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres. He came out of Chabot College, where the Giants took him in the first round of the January 1967 draft, but he signed with the Dodgers instead. He hit .273 in 822 games with 610 hits, 30 home runs, 184 RBI and 55 stolen bases. After playing he turned to coaching, as hitting coach of the Albuquerque Dukes and the Iowa Cubs, and he served as Chicago Cubs hitting coach from June to October 2009.
