About Charlie Moore

Through May of 1976 Moore played mostly left field. He hit .191 with three home runs and 16 RBIs, dealing with minor injuries, and new manager Alex Grammas sent him back to a backup role behind Porter. On October 3 he scored on Hank Aaron's sixth-inning single, the last run Aaron drove in. His #116 card lists him with Milwaukee.

Charlie Moore was a Milwaukee Brewers catcher and right fielder who played 1,334 major league games from 1973 to 1987, all but 51 of them for Milwaukee. A fifth-round draft pick in June 1971 out of Birmingham, Alabama, where he had been a quarterback at Minor High School, he debuted on September 8, 1973, and never went back to the minors. He came up as the understudy to catcher Darrell Porter and hit a career-high .301 in the strike-shortened 1981 season. In 1982 he moved to right field and led all right fielders in double plays and fielding percentage; in the fifth game of that year's ALCS he threw Reggie Jackson out at third base. He hit .346 in the 1982 World Series against St. Louis. On October 1, 1980, he hit for the cycle and stole two bases in the same game, a combination no other major leaguer has matched. After one season with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1987, he finished with a .261 career average. He was named to the Milwaukee Brewers Wall of Honor in 2014 and died in 2026.
