About Greg Luzinski

Luzinski had three cards in 1976: his own #610 and two League Leaders cards, #193 with Mike Schmidt and Dave Kingman and #195 with Johnny Bench and Tony Perez. The league recognition followed 1975, when he hit .300 with 34 home runs and led the league with 120 RBIs. In 1976 he hit .304 with 21 homers, including the three-run shot against Montreal on September 26 that clinched the division.

Greg Luzinski was a right-handed slugging left fielder for the Philadelphia Phillies from 1970 to 1980, then a designated hitter for the Chicago White Sox through 1984. He hit .276 with 307 home runs and 1,128 RBIs and was a National League All-Star every year from 1975 through 1978. The Bull, as he was known, reportedly picked up the nickname at Triple-A Eugene for his thick chest and productive bat. In the 1980 NLCS he belted a two-run homer in Game 1 and a pinch-hit double in Game 4, hits that helped carry Philadelphia to its first World Series title. With the White Sox he hit 32 home runs as a DH in 1983, a record at that time. Born in Chicago, he was drafted 11th overall in 1968 out of Notre Dame High School. He was inducted into the National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame in 1989 and the Phillies Wall of Fame in 1998, and later opened Bull's Barbecue at Citizens Bank Park.
