Larry Demery was a right-handed Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher who worked as both reliever and starter over four seasons, 1974 to 1977, and finished 29-23 with a 3.72 ERA. A Bakersfield native and the son of major leaguer Art Demery, he threw two no-hitters at Locke High School in Los Angeles and pitched at Los Angeles City College before the Pirates took him in the seventh round of the 1972 draft. In 1973 he led the Carolina League with fourteen complete games. He debuted June 2, 1974, in relief of Bruce Kison at Riverfront Stadium and struck out four of the six Reds he faced. His last game came on September 24, 1977. Demery later lived in Bakersfield, appeared in the 2014 film No No: A Dockumentary, and died on February 20, 2024, at age 70.
