Dave Chalk was a right-handed infielder, mainly a third baseman and shortstop, who played 903 games over nine seasons, 1973 to 1981, for the Angels, Rangers, Athletics and Royals. A three-time All-American at the University of Texas who played in three College World Series, he was the Angels' first-round pick in the June 1972 draft and reached the majors the next September. Angels' regular through 1978, he was traded to Texas in 1979 for Bert Campaneris, moved on to Oakland within weeks, and signed with Kansas City, where he played in the 1980 World Series. He retired after 1981 with 733 hits, 15 home runs, 243 RBI and a .252 average. He is in the National College Baseball Hall of Fame (2019), the Texas Hall of Honor and the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame.
