About Rob Belloir

Belloir's rookie card is #312, and it lists him with the Braves. His 1976 season brought 30 games, most of them at shortstop or third base, and a .200 average. The 1977 season that followed gave him six games and a single at-bat for Atlanta, though he scored twice.

Rob Belloir was a shortstop who played 81 major league games for the Atlanta Braves between 1975 and 1978, hitting .216 with 13 RBI. Born in Heidelberg, Germany, he was the 25th German-born player in the majors. He attended Southwest High School in Atlanta, worked as an usher at Ponce de Leon Park and Atlanta Stadium, and played basketball and baseball at Mercer University, earning an English degree in 1970. Cleveland drafted him in the eighth round in 1969, and he spent two years in the Army, including a six-month deployment to Vietnam, without touching a baseball. Cleveland sent him to the Braves as the player to be named later in the 1975 deal for Roric Harrison that also sent Blue Moon Odom to Atlanta. He was called up when Marty Perez broke a thumb, debuted on August 2, 1975, and went 4-for-4 with four RBI against St. Louis on August 22. Mercer inducted him into its Hall of Fame in 1981. He died in November 2023 at 75.
