1977 Topps #114 Bruce Dal Canton
Uncorrected error: In the stat-line header, "T" should be "R" for runs.

About Bruce Dal Canton
Topps #114 in 1977 prints Dal Canton with the Braves and carries an uncorrected error: the stat line header reads T where the runs column should read R. Atlanta released him on March 30, 1977, and the White Sox signed him on April 4. For Chicago he made 8 relief appearances and went 0-2 with a 3.75 ERA. His final game came on May 27.
Bruce Dal Canton was a right-handed pitcher who reached the majors an unusual way, signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates out of an open tryout while he was teaching high school in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. He debuted with the Pirates in 1967 and pitched eleven big league seasons for Pittsburgh, the Kansas City Royals, the Atlanta Braves and the Chicago White Sox, finishing with a 51-49 record and a 3.67 ERA over 316 games. He threw a knuckleball that Wilbur Wood helped him develop, and he led the American League in wild pitches in 1974. After retiring as a player, Dal Canton spent decades as a pitching coach in the Atlanta Braves organization, including a stint as the club's major league pitching coach and many years developing arms in the minor leagues. He died in 2008 in Pittsburgh at age 67. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame and the California University of Pennsylvania Athletic Hall of Fame.
